Ensors in Gloucestershire rescued by Ireland-based Foyle Meats, saving 136 jobs

Gloucester based Ensors, a three species slaughterhouse has been sold by Administrators, Will Wright and Mark Orton; restructuring partners at KPMG, following cashflow issues.

The Administrators sold the company and its assets, primarily the three acre freehold site with 80,000 square foot factory and plant and machinery in Cinderford, to Foyle Food Group Limited.

The sale, in September 2013 has secured the jobs of all 136 employees of Ensors, who will transfer to Foyle.

George Seward of Corporate Mergers, M&A specialists in the food industry commented, "This could be a good deal for the employees of the business who transfer to Foyle and could secure their future. Interest was strong within the industry, but Foyle were able to demonstrate their ability to react quickly and timing was of the essence."

Seward reviewed the opportunity with a client, but the decision was taken not to proceed because of the tight timescales required to rescue a business such as Ensor's.
